1. Training objectives
General Objectives:
The undergraduate program in Civil Law and Civil Procedure Law aims to train high-quality legal human resources with firm political qualities, professional ethics and good health; comprehensive and systematic legal knowledge; and a sound understanding of social principles and patterns related to law. Students are equipped with specialized knowledge of civil law and civil procedure law, and are able to apply technology, foreign languages and interdisciplinary thinking to legal practice in the context of international integration and digital transformation.
The program is developed on the principles of being Fundamental, Open and Flexible, streamlined and integrated, in accordance with the Standard for undergraduate training programs in the field of law under Decision No. 678/QD-BGDDT dated 14 March 2025 and Foreign Trade University’s orientation for reforming undergraduate training programs.
Specific Objectives:
Upon completion of the Bachelor program in Civil Law and Civil Procedure Law, students will achieve the following objectives:
PO1 – Professional knowledge
Possess in-depth professional knowledge in the fields of Civil Law and Civil Procedure Law, including contracts, marriage and family, inheritance, labour, business and commerce; and master current legal provisions as well as reform and international integration trends in these fields.
PO2 – Professional practice skills
Possess basic skills in legal practice, especially skills in analysing and applying civil law and civil procedure law provisions to resolve practical legal issues; drafting and reviewing contracts and legal documents; studying case files; collecting evidence; drafting statements of claim; and participating in litigation, advocacy and mediation in civil matters.
PO3 – Foreign-language competence and ability to apply information technology
Use foreign languages effectively, especially legal English, in study and work; and apply information technology to search, analyse, process and present legal information for study and professional purposes.
PO4 – Qualities and professional ethics
Possess firm political qualities, ethics and good health; demonstrate responsibility and a professional attitude in performing work; have a sense of community service; and comply with the law and ethical standards of the legal profession.
PO5 – Autonomy and lifelong learning capacity
Have the ability to self-study, work independently, think critically and proactively adapt to change; possess creativity, entrepreneurial capacity and the ability to create employment for oneself and others; and have the capacity to continue studying at higher levels or in specialized training programs.

| Second foreign language: Students may choose a second foreign language in the training program from Chinese, Japanese, French or Spanish. Upon completing second foreign language courses, students reach Level 3/6 under the six-level Foreign Language Competency Framework for Vietnam pursuant to Circular No. 01/2014/TT-BGDDT. Results for the second foreign language are not counted toward the cumulative GPA and are not a condition for assessing achievement of the program learning outcomes.
